David Morrison: Drawings

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens

July 15 – October 16, 2016

The beautiful but ephemeral aspects of nature come to life in a breathtaking new gallery exhibition.

Presented by Garvey Simon Art Access, David Morrison: Drawings consists of a selection of hyperrealist colored pencil drawings from Morrison’s Rusted Leaf, Sycamore, Fallen and Stick series. These drawings — which represent over a decade of meticulous observation and creation — illustrate the depth of Morrison’s innate connections to the natural world and the circle of life.

Morrison is inspired by the eruption of new leaves during springtime, the firecracker explosion of the red and yellow berries of crabapples, and the scarification of fallen tree branches. His artwork encapsulates fleeting moments in the fragile existence of these natural wonders.
